ABP & Bodyshop Magazine press release

D.Gawthrope ACR invests heavily to create a “state of the art” body shop

Gawthrope ACR is very pleased to announce the completion of a huge investment to their body shop repair business at Knottingley, near Leeds.

Managing Director, Dean Gawthrope, who has been in business for over 30 years, has upgraded the site and created a “state of the art” body shop facility covering commercial, van and car repairs and is Mercedes-Benz approved for van and commercial, with car approval hopefully imminent. He has invested over £1.2m in upgrading the current 15,000 sq ft site, and also adding a 3,000 sq ft dedicated aluminium bay for cars, with the latest approved equipment and systems. In particular, he has worked closely with Bodyshop Solutions and invested extensively in their very productive and multi-manufacturer approved Celette equipment range, which includes the Griffon XL, which is a drive-on extra long Jig Bench with a secondary lift, the fast X-One quick pull bench, the Naja 3D electronic measuring system and the new Eagle, electronic measuring system giving fast diagnostics and traceability. In terms of software, they are now using the very good body shop AutoFlow management system, which has improved efficiencies.

This facility is truly a “one-stop vehicle shop” to cover every vehicle, which also includes the latest technologies of electric and hydrogen vehicles. They are also in the process of going for other manufacturer approvals. During this whole investment and updating period, Chris Mckay, from Vision, has provided a great deal of help to now achieving their market leading standards.

Dean Gawthrope commented:

I took the decision to really invest heavily in the future of the business and I am absolutely delighted with the completed body shop. This superb facility enables us to provide an incredible service and experience for customers, covering every type of vehicle, using “state of the art” equipment and systems coupled with our highly trained team of technicians. Even at this difficult pandemic time, this significant investment shows our belief and commitment to the future of the industry.
